Arriving by Yacht into Opua
Arriving vessels need to make their way to the Customs Area which is at the Northern end of the breakwater where there is a Customs and Maf clearance site. Q signs clearly indicate where to moor and there is space for around 15 berths. Opua Marina have also located a floating toilet in this area and you need to be aware that Opua Marina is strictly a "No-Discharge" area.
If arriving from overseas, you need to arrange for your Customs and Immigration clearance before disembarking from your vessel. You can do this by contacting Russel Radio on the frequencies shown below. Ideally, yachts should contact the authorities 48hrs prior to arrival to arrange for clearance. A customs officer is stationed at Opua during the high season from November through to March.
You can email your information 48 hours prior to your arrival by downloading Customs Form C1B and Form NZCS 340 (both are small txt files)and emailing them to Yachts@customs.govt.nz .
Once cleared in, you can arrange your berth at Opua Marina:-
