A brief History
Bay of Islands Spars and Rigging was established in 1997 and quickly established a reputation for high quality service and timely delivery. The business expanded further in 2004 with the purchase of Whangarei Spars and Rigging, adding much needed services to the yachtsmen and boatyards of the Whangarei Region.

Our current Team of Professionals

Paul Smith - General Manager
Paul has quickly established himself as a popular and experienced Manager and Rigger amongst staff and clients alike. He is a well known and popular figure within the Opua Marine community and a talented and enthusiastic racing yachtsman. He has 9 years experience within the marine sector.

Susan Perry - Office Manager
An experienced Blue water sailor from the East Coast of the US, Susan fully understands the demands and requirements of bluewater cruising sailors. She is an excellent communicator and administrator and ensures the office efficiency we need to deliver a prompt and high quality service. Susan is also an IT systems specialist and has considerable knowledge working within modern office environments.

Rob Galley - Rigger
Rob has a marine engineering background and Yachtmaster Offshore sailing qualification as well as considerable experience teaching sailing in the UK.

Bruce Wright - Rigger/Engineer
The latest addition to the team, Bruce has great experience of machining, welding and repairing within the industrial sector.
